Harper failed to clean up Ottawa scandals
REGINA – Jack Layton launched his Saskatchewan campaign today with a call to defeat Stephen Harper over his broken promise to clean up Ottawa.
“Five years ago, Saskatchewan gave Stephen Harper a chance in the hopes he’d clean up the Liberal-style scandals. Instead he just replaced them with scandals of his own. Saskatchewan families deserve better,” Layton told a packed Regina rally.
Layton slammed Harper’s refusal to fire two Conservative Senators actively facing fraud charges. He called on Harper to ensure that neither of these Senators were campaigning or fundraising for the Conservative campaign until the charges are dealt with.
“Saskatchewan families are looking for action to improve health services and tackle the skyrocketing cost of everyday essentials. But all they’re getting from the Ottawa Conservatives are continued scandals,” Layton said.
Layton called on Saskatchewan voters to unite behind New Democrats to defeat Stephen Harper. "Here in Saskatchewan, the only way to defeat Conservatives is to vote New Democrat.”
