Canadians are asking: who do you trust to lead health care negotiations?

KAMLOOPS – New Democrat leader Jack Layton committed today to maintaining the 6 per cent escalator for health care funding. Layton noted that this is already part of the government of Canada’s projections.
With key health care negotiations taking place in the next Parliament, Layton is looking for a mandate in this election to lead those negotiations.
“This is a question of leadership,” said Layton. “I’m asking all Canadians: who do you trust to lead the next health care negotiations?”
New Democrats are the only party to make health care a key part of their 2011 election campaign. Layton has been raising issues around improving health care throughout this campaign.
“We’ve got to improve our frontline health services,” said Layton. “We need more family doctors and nurses, better home care and affordable prescription drugs. Stephen Harper failed to keep his health care commitments and Michael Ignatieff is making promises that he cannot be counted on to keep.”
